What we believe.
WE BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE CERTAIN CORE BELIEFS, BEHAVIOURS AND ATTITUDES THAT ARE FOUNDATIONAL TO THE LIFE OF A FOLLOWER OF JESUS.
The God of the Bible is the one true God, existing in three equally divine Persons: Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
Every person is born with a bent towards living our own way instead of God’s. The Bible calls this SIN. Sin causes a separation in our relationship with God who is holy and all-together right and just. Our sin means we come under God’s righteous judgment – we are guilty of breaking His Law. We stand eternally condemned and destined for hell.
Romans 3:23; 6:23
Because God loves us He chose to send His Son, Jesus, into the world; to live a sinless life and to die on the Cross in order to pay the just penalty for our sins. Only by admitting our sin and our need to be saved from this eternal judgment, and by accepting Jesus’ death and resurrection as the only means by which our sins can be forgiven, can we have eternal life with God.
John 3:16,17; Ephesians 2:8,9
The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God and has the authority to command all aspects of our lives.
2 Timothy 3:16
The Church is God’s rescued people, set apart especially for Him, and it is the primary means through which God has chosen to take His message of salvation to the world. Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church and, through His Holy Spirit, gives gifts to the Church so that His followers can exercise His ministry on earth.
Everything a person has belongs to God and is to be used as a means of serving Him and His purposes.
1 Timothy 6:17-19
Baptism & The Lord’s Supper
These two ordinances were appointed by Jesus Christ for the Church. Baptism is the public declaration of a believer that signifies a change in their spiritual condition brought about by the Holy Spirit, and a declaration of their ongoing commitment and devotion to loving and serving God. The Lord’s Supper is to be regularly celebrated as a reminder for the people of God of the salvation that has been secured on their behalf by Jesus’ death and resurrection, and to remind them of their future hope – an eternal home in heaven when Jesus returns.
1 Corinthians 11:23-26
Jesus will, at the time appointed by God the Father, return to earth in a glorious revealing of His divine majesty and sovereignty, and He will judge every person according to their sin. Those who have not accepted the truth about Him and who have rejected His offer of salvation will go to an eternity in Hell. Those who have accepted the truth about Jesus will spend eternity in Heaven.
North Pine Baptist Church affirms the biblical definition of marriage as being one man united with one woman (Genesis 2:23-24) and is in full agreement with the Nashville Statement published by the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (view statement here)
