Friendship Club (50s+)

North Pine Friendship Club exists to provide opportunity for our Church’s Seniors to meet together for Fellowship. This is achieved through Bible Studies, Worship and Social events. Members often invite their friends along to share a special activity.

The Club meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. The first meeting is a mix of worship, Bible Study and fellowship time while the second revolves around a social time with activities including visiting speakers, lunches and day bus excursions. Morning Tea chat time is always a feature not to be missed.

Here are some of the things that we have done/are doing in 2015.

A Bible Study series on Prayer was taken by a guest speaker over several months, followed by studies in James led by some club members.

In February our guests from Prison Ministries spoke about their involvement with rehabilitating released prisoners in their “Inside Out” programme.

A Bus day tour to the Herbst Family Prawn Farm at Jacob’s Well was enjoyed by all in March. Other highlights of the day being Alwyn’s famous scones at Cabbage Tree Point for morning tea and lunch at Harrigan’s Drift Inn Restaurant at Jacob’s Well.

In May, our guest speaker Tim Mander, previously a well known NRL referee and CEO of Scripture Union, who is now the State Member for Everton walked us through his various careers in the light of his Christian values.

The social event for June was a Bus trip to the Bribie Island Seaside Museum. Lunch at the RSL topped off the day. Bus trips always provide a wonderful opportunity for more slightly prolonged fellow-ship time. Our regular bus driver is John Hockey whose generous provision helps us to minimise costings.

The highlight of the year will be a four day holiday; and this year it will be to Caloundra with sight seeing and tours to some of the local places of interest but still plenty of free time to relax and enjoy the scenery of Pumicestone Passage from the Hotel balcony.

Here are just a few photos of their annual four day trip, which also included a cruise on the Maroochy River.
